My skin damp with sweat. A stuffed artichoke and cannoli fresh in my stomach. In my hands, 2 lbs of clementines and two plums that cost $1.25 at the farmers' market. First week of zoo training, check. Place to live for the rest of AmeriCorps, no check. So that's about where I stand in my life right. I am Rhode Island bound on Saturday. I'm excited and nervous to move yet again, this time to join AmeriCorps. I will be working at the Roger Williams Park Zoo as an environmental educator. And so it has been a full year since I left Aaron. Do I regret the decision? No. Does it still hurt sometimes? Yes. But on to bigger and better things, right? In the past year I've done a lot, like being an intern at the Marine Biological Laboratory and acting in The Rocky Horror Show. And now I work at Barnes & Noble, which is going well so far. My aunt's standard poodle, Stoli, died today. She fell in the pool in the backyard and drowned. I am very sad. I loved this dog immensely. It is difficult when a beloved pet dies, but life would be so much worse without these friends. Today I am grateful that I have the capacity to love, even if it hurts.
