Chapter 6:

When Kazunari woke up the next morning, the first thing he realized was that Satoshi was missing. Blinking to adjust to the morning light, Kazunari scanned the room for the other male, but all he saw were walls and furniture.

Shoving the blankets off him, Kazunari tried not to blush at the thought of sleeping on the same bed as Satoshi but failed pretty badly. After freshening up, Kazunari got changed and decided that Satoshi was at the restaurant having breakfast and he headed there.

At the hotel’s restaurant, Kazunari spotted three hunched figures whispering profusely around the table by the window. He was about to greet them when he realized they were probably up to something and didn’t want to intrude. Turning on his heels, Kazunari planned to go grab something to drink when his ears caught Sho’s voice.

“I don’t think that plan of Jun’s is really smart,”

“I know, but that’s his only choice isn’t it?” hissed Masaki.

“I don’t see why he insist on continuing his plan, Kazunari’s pretty cute after all,”

Kazunari knew his cheeks must have turned tomato red when he heard Satoshi calling him ‘cute’. He tried to calm his thumping heart by processing what he had just heard - Jun has some plan, a plan that has something to do with him, but what?

He wanted to carry on eavesdropping on their conversation, but someone just had to stride into the restaurant.

“What bad luck,” sighed Jun oh so fake-ly, “seeing you first thing in the morning,”

Kazunari bit his lips in an attempt to stop himself from yelling insults at Jun. From what he had gathered, Jun was trying to piss him off, and if he really wanted to get back at Jun, he would have to look as if Jun wasn’t succeeding at annoying him.

“Oh guys, you’re here!” greeted Sho, waving them over to their table.

Wanting to get away from Jun, Kazunari hurried over to the table. He noticed that Satoshi’s, Sho’s and Masaki’s faces had turned from grim to smiley, which meant that he wasn’t supposed to hear what they had just said. That’s too bad, he wanted to consult either one of them on the matter, but since they made it so clear that they didn’t want to talk about it, Kazunari didn’t want them to feel awkward or anything by bringing it up.

Their Christmas afternoon was spent having an extremely crazy snowball fight - Jun and Sho versus Kazunari, Satoshi and Masaki.

It was crazy.

Kazunari didn’t know how he did it, but Masaki managed to make a few hundred snowballs in a minute and Satoshi, despite hating the cold, managed to build a giant fortress (completed with elaborate designs…of fishes and majestic decorations…of fishes). Before the opposing team was even done, Kazunari’s team was ready for war.

Kazunari couldn’t remember exactly what happened, but the fight ended with Sho and Jun three quarters buried in snow and Sho waving his white glove to show that they surrender.

Hurrying back inside the hotel to get some hot chocolate to warm themselves up, Satoshi and Masaki were laughing at Sho’s failure at snowball fights. Kazunari wanted to join them when his eye caught something purple against the white snow.

Turning around, he saw Jun, hands in his pockets as he looked out and took in the breathtaking scenery. The taller male looked so deep in thought that Kazunari didn’t know if he wanted to know what he was thinking. Kazunari wanted to follow the other three but Jun suddenly turned around and caught Kazunari staring at him.

“What are you looking at?” asked Jun in an extremely unfriendly manner.

Kazunari stood in the snow, wondering how he should answer. After a few seconds, an idea popped into his head, making him smirk like a spoilt brat.

“An annoying bastard,”

Jun sat at the desk in his hotel room, his finger stroking the smooth glass of the photo frame in his hand.

“Why?” he asked nobody in particular.

He didn’t get any reply as silence continued ringing in his ears.

“What have I done to deserve this?” he asked again.

Still no answer.

Putting down the photo frame, Jun leaned back into his chair and ran a hand through his hair. His head had been aching since that stupid Masaki decided to spend his birthday and Christmas here, and then Masaki reminding him of Toma didn’t help either. Actually, Jun hadn’t forgotten about Toma. How could he? Because of Toma, he had learnt a very valuable lesson. A lesson which he had learnt, that’s why he’s so desperately trying to get out of the Ninomiya mansion.

He took a long look at the lady in the photograph, and asked once again, “onee-san, why do I have to go through all these?” Sadly, his picture-sister could only smile at him but not offer him any answers.

Jun sighed once more. Now that Kazunari had shown up, it would be even more difficult for him to escape. Getting ready for bed, Jun hoped that the day he could leave the mansion without returning would come soon.

AN: I have to admit that this chapt is very random. And i also admit that i have no idea how to tell the rest of the story (which means that the next chapt wont be up soon *sighs*) Just wondering, is the way i'm revealing what is going on confusing? That was just a thought because there seems to be a lot going on and i didn't really reveal much about Jun's behavior. Thanks for reading!!
