I didn't shed a single tear for you today. Not one.

I'm listening to vinyl cause it's all that I have unpacked.

It makes me think of another great new beginning in my life when I'd first moved to Chicago.

My life has gone through so many twists and turns since then.

Fingers crossed that this is the best new beginning yet.

Today was a great day.

I love that I'm seeing parts of this region that remind me of home. It's making me really glad that I decided to stay.

Also, I never thought I'd want to own a motorcycle, but I kind of do.

My father died 12 years ago today.

My Mom went in for a CAT scan on her abdomen this afternoon. She cried to me on the phone because she hated being in the hospital on the anniversary of my father's death. She was scared and alone.

Things in Virginia feel like Chicago circa 2003. I've moved to a new state, have a new job, a new place to figure out - and zero friends. I think it's time for some livejournaling.

I've had a lot of problems and low moments lately, but then I wake up and realize that my life could be a lot worse. My problems are small, but they're still there.

I know I very rarely post on livejournal anymore. Usually, I read my friends list every couple of days, but I lost touch with it over the Christmas break when I was home for a couple weeks. David Halberstam died yesterday in a car crash. Kurt Vonnegut died April 11. Two amazing writers dead unexpectedly within two weeks of each other. It's so sad. Halbertstam led quite an amazing life - I can't imagine winning a Pulitzer at 30 years old. I read his work The Fifties in college.
