The end of June marks the sixth update on the the #Reverb10 prompt for my blog-along with
Sunflowerakb and
chemgal18.
Here is the prompt for those who may have missed the first post:
What are 11 things your life doesn't need in 2011?
How will you go about eliminating them?
How will getting rid of these 11 things change your life?
You can find my list of 11 things
here; here's my
January update, my
February update, the
March Edition and
April's oversharing and May's
steps toward victory.
Today I wore my favorite dress from the Ann Taylor Loft spree at the end of grad school, and the Fluevog knockoff shoes from Target that I've sewn together twice (and safety-pinned together in the hour before The New Girl and GamerBoi's wedding, a safety pin that remains to this day). I wore pantyhose, partially because it was chilly and partially because I wasn't quite sure of the limits of business casual. I looked like everyone else at my new job--except no one else wore pantyhose. (Rock on...the value of my salary just went up about 7%. I am not the only woman to note this today, either.)
Why subject you to a fashion report? (Thanks again for the help with the outfit, ChemGal*.) Because it sums up my progress on the 2011 Challenge. I can wear a good chunk of the clothes I bought back when I was happy (well, the ones I kept--another part of the challenge, learning to what to keep and what to throw away). Though I still have moments when I long for There, I think I've found a good thing Here and I want to give it a shot. (For example, my new employer hosts a
school supply drive. I can't wait to volunteer.)
Sure, there's still a lot of fear. (Much of which surrounds the moving truck that arrives this weekend.) There's that bit of ambivalence I just alluded to (which is of course not the ambivalence I originally blogged about). There's a couple of ratty gym shirts at the bottom of the bag. But there's also a bit of a feeling that MathNerd314 v2 is about to launch (those of you who are good at rounding--get the joke?!). Sadly, this release is still crap at wardrobe and makeup, but the end user just might notice improvements in functionality and ease of navigation.
I've got a little more I'd like to say about the Challenge, but it's self-congratulatory and not quite an update. To appear at the will of the moving vans, perhaps?
*ps-I shouldn't have worried about the potentially-zebra dress. Two of my new, first-day colleagues were wearing animal prints.
