Guangzhou was a shopping stop for us to pick up ceramics that we hadn't wanted to carry all the way around China with us. We checked in to the Liuhua hotel where we had stayed for a couple of nights when we had first entered China. Our bad guide experience had left us feeling that we'd hit breaking point. It's not travelling for a long time that makes you want to go home, it's all those little cultural differences that grate until you reach breaking point. We last seriously posted when we were in Xi'an. We successfully caught a plane to Chongqing and were picked up as arranged at the airport. Chongqing is an amazing city... 30 million people! The pollution wasn't any better than Xi'an though. It's very hilly as well, being along the banks of the Yangzi with it's gorges and all, so no bicycles, just ( Read more... )

I told you that Matt would be excited :-) When we arrived at the Terracotta Warriors we stopped to get a drink before we went in. We also got ice creams and Matt gobbled his then sat very patiently while I finished mine.
