Today Kyrie and I had a nice walk in part of Paynes Prairie. It was a little windy but very sunny. Additionally we saw lots of birds, in addition to alligators (with about six babies swimming around mom), buffalo, and some horses. I highly recommend the trail which is the La Chua Trail.

I finally got my webcam from Amazon and (after several hours of unlocking blocked ports on my host internet) I was able to initiate a video phone call with my wife. I highly recommend Skype. It's got great audio and video quality, it's free, easy to use, and doesn't have all the ad crap that AIM and MSN have.

Yesterday was the departments mandatory "Health and Wellness Retreat" which meant driving across Rhode Island (driving an hour in Rhode Island without leaving the state is impressive) to Camp Yawgoog where fun was had by all, albeit the team building activities were a little less jubilant in the constant cold drizzle. My last call and last day of pediatrics wards, yeahhhhh! Of course this means starting my month in the Trauma ICU on Tuesday which has call every third night. Then I'll get a week off to help Kyrie move cross country. After that I start an ER Trauma rotation which is also call every third night. Then I finally get to enjoy my summer, in August.

So I finally got the GPS navigator I've been salivating over. Kyrie (who fills the traditional role of car navigator (as well as judge, jury, and executioner)) sees the device as a threat to her, but I see it as insurance against getting lost. There's a great editorial about the recent Supreme Court decision which severely limits workers ability to file suits alleging gender discrimination. The law says that you have to file within 180 days of the discriminatory act, this has traditionally meant that every time someone gets underpaid, they have 180 days to file suit. Woot, the one item a day sales website, is having a woot off. Where they sell an item till it runs out, then switch to another item. Never sure what will be on sale five minutes later. The pressure sell is added to by a ticker bar that runs down and audio alarms. Fast paced commerce, my favorite.
