Sometimes breaking things can be therapeutic, and sometimes it isn't. But if you suspect that in your current state breaking things would be therapeutic, you may be able to buy cheap dishes or something else that's inexpensive (and preferably ugly) and break it. (I recommend not choosing a religious figurine, because the time you'd get added in Purgatory, plus the guilt, just wouldn't be worth it.) That way you can break something without breaking something you care about or need.
If the neighbors hear and ask about it, you can point to the shards of whatever remains and say, "It angered the voices!" and give them a really intense crazy stare.
Aside from that, I have nothing constructive to say, except that yeah, the situation does suck. I will pray that something will work out.

As far as still having hope...it's possible but not probable, and probable doesn't cut it when we might be on one income for a few months.
