I never announced it, but I was gone since Thursday to work on the Ford Escort a group of us are entering for the 24 hrs of LeMons in Houston, TX this October. Progress has been difficult lately, but I am moving in a forward direction. The oil accumulator (big blue can) and fan controller (black box with SPAL on the side) have been mounted.

Don't use a good welding wire to build up some material and expect to be able to machine the excess off. It becomes a 4 hour lesson in stubbornness.

Don't work on a car when you have a sore back.

That being said, I think I'm just going to set here for the rest of my night and try to recover. :P

Changed the intake manifold in a Dodge Ram for a friend of a friend. Got almost nothing done to my car. Rain can take a hike.

In anticipation for the nationals event in June, I've been putting my nose to the grind stone with the Conquest. The intercooler is now done and I've ordered the tubing I need to do the plumbing, I've started relocating items such as the windshield washer tank to gain clearance for such plumbing, and in a couple of weeks I'm going to try to do a ( Read more... )

One of my friends down in Wichita is bringing up his Starion so we can swap a better condition dash in his car. Mine is getting the rear rotors turned, installing fan #1 for the new cooling system, and possibly begin mocking up the new intercooler. It's good to be back to working on the sports car again. :]
