Had both of my last sets of consulting interviews, with BCG and Bain this Monday, and as of about an hour ago have formally been told "thanks, but no thanks" by both.

Finally got the McKinsey call an hour ago, and it's a "no". Wasn't surprised, since I figured they'd have called a lot earlier if it were good news. The feedback was semi-helpful; it sounds like I missed something significant in one of the three case studies, but the partner calling me wasn't able to say exactly *what*, which is frustrating ( Read more... )

Today may well have been my last day of medical school. I am on "vacation" this month to interview, and looks like I'll have to do the same for next month. It's oddly appropriate that today's the first time I saw someone die ( Read more... )

Today's my day for possibly flying on the MedEvac helicopter; tomorrow I take Step 2 of the boards. So, I'm sitting around and waiting for someone to need a helicopter, doing boards questions, and now taking a study break to review the latest interview, at the University of Iowa.

An excellent four days in Seattle, for which I am undoubtedly about to pay with some jet lag. Met up with several friends who I hadn't seen in a while, got to see what's going on in the industry research side of things, and charged almost all of it to someone else's wallet.

Had the second-round interview with McKinsey on Wednesday. This one's a bit more personal than the first round; they fly you in (to the DC office in my case), and you have three hour-long interviews. One of them is just a business case study (although mine included some resume discussion), two are about 20 minutes of discussing a single experience ( Read more... )
