At a show a couple weeks ago, the Wisdom Panel people had a booth and were offering their DNA panel for a show price of $30 if you swabbed your dog right there. So yeah, I couldn't resist, and got one for Riley. Got the results back yesterday and I can't say I'm shocked. We knew the border collie thing, and, well, papa was a sailor:

It's interesting to me how WIDELY these tests can vary. Some seem pretty spot on, and others --- whoa baby.

Well, I could really believe she's 1/16 rottie and 1/16 schnauzer and 1/2 border collie and that last 3/8 some mystery mix. That doesn't seem like a stretch. It's a little sad for me that they couldn't pin down that last 3/8 more than they did. But hey.

To me, she really looks like some of the litter of English sheepherds we got into our rescue a few years ago, too. This is just an image search, but you can see a lot of sable and white english shepherds, and the blue eyes aren't that uncommon in the breed: http://tinyurl.com/mcmb492 (though they're REALLY striking on Sephora).

To do lists... I am kindve in a state of panic. Puppy coming. People moving into our home for the summer into rooms that became storage rooms for firstborn stuff and my brothers stuff. More triage and expulsion. And then there is just stuff. And money and why am I freaking out on your LJ. Ahhhhhh

I really do wonder how accurate these tests are, but they are interesting. Fingers crossed the house sale keeps progressing!

I know! I suspect they're getting better as they get more data, as these things go. They're fun, though.
