Lyle Lovett is coming to the Olympia, and I have that night off and everything!

So excellent, so excellent.

I finished in all the ends of the baby blanket so hopefully I can get down to the more challenging stuff when I go to my Professional Finishing Techniques course this Saturday.

It feels like donkey's years since I took a course for a hobby (I know arguably theology is a hobby but I don't look at it like that). I feel like I'm a teenager again.

It would be for the sewing up of this blanket. I've now finished in the ends of three rows. This is an incredibly tedious business that I'm not sure I'm doing correctly or securely. It also takes forever. Each patch has around 4 bits of thread to work in so that takes me about ten minutes and isn't fun. I've now conquered the half-way point ( Read more... )

Last weekend I rewatched the BBC's production of 'Wives and Daughters' by Elizabeth Gaskell and I was reminded once again what a fascinating a wonderful character Squire Hamley is. I'm making progress with the blanket and I'm really pleased with it so far. I laid it out on the floor to get an idea of the size and it looked great without the rows even being sewed together. My sewing is progressing well too. I don't feel like the whole thing is going to fall apart once the child gets his hands on it.
