I had wondered where this story had gotten to; it seemed abandoned. I'm so glad it wasn't! I love the atmosphere and your quenching of their deep loneliness together. More please!

Thanks,
Susan

Oh no, this story is finished in German so no need to worry about the translation ;-).
We will finish it but tizi and me had both been ill during the holidays and tizi is also translating "The Sequel" - so she's quite busy... ;-).

Lovely story, Mel. You captured the loneliness and despair very powerfully.

I am glad that Ennis is caring for Jack, what happened to Jack that he did not wish to go to the hospital?

He could have gone to a clinic instead, it sounded like he needed some kind of antibiotic.

I wonder who lives in the better apt, Jack or Ennis? or do they both live in poorly furnished homes?

It's Jack who lives in the better apt but to be honest both men don't really care. They had been so lonely and no one ever visited so there was no need to invest in their living although both would have the money.

Jack is afraid of going to a hospital and to be at someones mercy. His experiences after his bashing were burned into his soul and he simply doesn't want to go through it again.

The writing in this story is just so painfully beautiful. I love how you explore Ennis's depths of despair, and his realisation that now, with Jack, he has a purpose in life. The gorgeous scene when he walked over to Jack and sat next to him as he lay sleeping, reminded me of SNIT somehow. I can't wait until Jack wakes up.
