My mother-in-law called a couple of hours ago and announced that she'll be here for a visit, either tomorrow night or Wednesday morning. Besides the fact that the house is NO where near 'company-ready' I'm also dealing with my current feelings about her (that I basically can't stand her and don't want her near my children).

How can you already be six years old? Where have the years gone? It seems like just yesterday that the midwife placed you on my stomach, but here we are just seconds later, and you're such a big kid now.

Sometimes I hate being the Mom. I hate it when they think I'm the bad guy, even though I'm doing something to try to help them in the long run. Nothing feels worse than making my kids cry. -

I thought I forgot to push the on button on the coffee maker, so I pushed it on again.
It turns out that my coffee maker has decided to up and die on me this morning. I can only assume that this means one thing - the universe is out to get me today.

Fall, and the things that come with it
Fall is here. Ok, maybe not officially, but the weather has changed and I am loving it. The oppressive summertime heat disappeared (thank you, God!) on Saturday, and in its place were lovely breezes and cool nights. We opened the windows on Saturday and haven't run the air since then. Today, my baby turned 5. I have watched the clock today, and have known what I was doing and where I was for pretty much every hour of the day. I'm not sure how it can possibly be 5 years ago when it all feels so recent. Quilting!
I'm going to try to be better about posting. Not likely, but worth a shot.
So I have a new obsession - quilting! I love it so incredibly much. I have finished quilts for each of the boys, have pieced and have partially hand quilted a wallhanging, and am currently working on quilts for my grandmother's birthday and Jim's grandmother's birthday - ( Read more... )
