Melon Field 1 [Ari]

Jul 08, 2008 23:45

The vast forest west of town breaks into a clearing. It's not a small clearing, some stray beam of holiness in a dark and damp jungle, but a large opening, about the size of the town. Being extremely flat, it's easy to see that it's not the forest's edge -- the same forest surrounds it completely on every side. And there's something else easy to ( Read more... )

Kasumi's attention was drawn to green melon 3, despite how the various colors fascinated her equally. She wasn't sure what the normal color of a melon was supposed to be, or if she'd even ever seen one before, but she figured she'd concentrate on the one for now.

Experimentally, she knocked on the surface to test it, mainly seeing if it was hollow or full, heavy or light... the whole concept was entirely foreign to her.

The melon sounded normal enough. Like. A normal melon. Ari didn't know what a normal melon sounded like.

Fascinating. This normal melon sound that Ari didn't know what it sounded like, apparently made Kasumi blink a few times, until an idea struck her and she decided to drag the melon to the nearest small rock suited for the job. She started delicately thudding it against it, hoping that it would break, even if just a little.

The melon thudded against the rock delicately, but remained unharmed.

While waiting for Hao and Gaara to catch up, Anna busied herself by selecting a melon from the patch. She decided she didn’t trust the rainbow melon and also understood that melons should normally be a green colour but instead she strode down the line of red melons, being attracted to their colour for some odd reason. Rapping #2 and #3 with her knuckles, she decided she liked #3 the best and proceeded to sit on top of it until one of the men arrived. After all, why should she do all the work?

Hao had sped up to catch with Anna and looked down at the melons. The whole thing sort of amused him, he wanted to see what was with the rainbow ones, but he'd follow Anna to break the one she chose instead.
He spotted the one she was on, assuming that's what she wanted- but he wondered how to go about smashing this thing. Smashing was not his style, after all. Hao decide to wait for Gaara to smash it instead.

Gaara had left pretty much right after Anna, so he wasn't long in arriving. He looked at the melon Anna was sitting on and nodded.

Anna stood up, brushed herself off and picked up the melon. Shoving it into Haos arm's she then looked at both Hao and Gaara expectantly. She folded her arms and waited.

Legault glanced briefly around the field, watching the others' antics with mild amusement. My, this place just never ceases to confuse me. First bouncy walls, and then... melons everywhere? ...It looks like no one can break them, though. He then bent down, peering at Green Melon #4, and rapped his knuckles gently on its rind. "They do look rather tasty, though. It would be a shame indeed if no one could open them... But I wouldn't put it past this place." He pushed the melon with two fingers, rolling it over.

[[ ooc: ugh sorry, I can't type today - that would be Green #5, not #4. ]]

Legault sighed, and decided it would be more interesting to watch other people try to open them then to actually try himself. After all, it looked like some people had already gotten theirs open.

... I wonder if there's some kind of trick to opening them...? Perhaps if he watched, he would learn something interesting. He seated himself comfortably and leaned back against the melon, resting an arm on it and looking out over the field.

Subaru thought it would be fun to drop by and finger paint cutesy faces on to all the melons. Hey, it made for a day of entertainment! ♥

((Subtract, like, 20 bucks from Subaru for finger paints? lol))

The first rainbow melon wobbled for a moment and burst open, showing Subaru its yummy melony insides.

((OOC: Congratulations! You get Rainbow Melon #1, and 2% memories.))

"WH-WHAA!?! My painting!" Subaru fell backwards in shock to the bursting melon in the face, and then it occured to her...

Right then. Time to go for impressive. Sakura dashed into the field at top speed, seized Blue Melon #5, and dashed back to town at... slightly under top speed, due to the weight of the melon.

Melon may have o_o'd at the speed if it had eyes.

Right, time to go back to the lab... But on the other hand, her other melon samples were safe, and as long as she had this one out here... She glanced around the streets, ensuring that nobody she knew was walking by, then chakra-walked up the side of a building and sat down to examine the surface of the melon.

Musical notes... and... a circle? Couldn't hurt.

Still holding fast to the melon, she managed to fumble out brush and ink from her pouch, then drew an oval shape on the wall around them.

The melon sat there innocently.
