The forest north of the village stretches to the mountain ridge bordering the sea. But before the narrow mountain pass to the sea, before the end of the forest can quite be seen, there is a melon field. The land is a little hilly here, and the forest around it is uneven, but the field itself is perfectly leveled and square. Although interest in the ( Read more... )

Haruko entered the field and gathered Blue Melons 1, 3, and 5, and repeated her bass/drumming/singing act from Field #1.

The melons wobbled. Maybe.

Haruko then went on to swear loudly and profusely at the melons for some time.

Bridget, being his chipper and helpful self, scurried into the melon field with a large bucket of ice water. Happily, he watered all of the melons, including greens 1 and 2.

A few of the green melons wobbled slightly, as if in appreciation.

Bridget scurried off to get more water; the lake being readily accessible, he scooped up some lake water and poured that over the same green melons.

The melons... sat there. And wondered if these people knew about the dangers of overwatering plants.

In what was either a surge of brilliance, boredom, or far too many melon jokes, but Heather figured either she'd luck out and one of the very strange melons would break out of divine irony or she'd at least have a funny story to tell later on. Either way, she went into the field and groped all the melons available.

The melons sat there like the melons they were. Even though melons are technically gigantic oversized wombs.

Having heard about this particular field from Juudai, Johan had wandered over, wondering if the rumors were true. Well, even if they weren't, it would probably be amusing just to give it a shot. Most of them were being worked with - that wasn't a surprise. He picked up the third blue melon and the fourth rainbow melon, wondering if the same rules went for all of the melons.

It didn't really matter anyways, since he'd only heard about how to break green and red melons. Figuring Juudai wouldn't care if he started experimenting before he arrived, he simply tapped his fingers on the both of them, looking for any inequalities on the outside.

Wandering back to the field with the first rainbow melon he had picked up earlier in his arms, Juudai spotted Johan already examining two melons and approached him.

"Of course the rainbows are going to be the hardest," he mused, "it makes sense, I suppose."

"Hey, Juudai," he greeted. "You think if we ask nicely, they'll break open for us?" It wouldn't be too surprising if that was what happened.

That might be pushing it a little, though. "Has anybody broken a rainbow one?" he asked. He hadn't heard of it happening yet.

"I'm sure we wouldn't be the first ones to try it," Juudai replied dryly. "And I believe there have been a few rainbows broken, but I'm not sure of the methods that were used. Not nearly as many as the other colors, however."

While its brethren rather liked a good drum beat, this one gave no indication that it was a fan and sat still as could be.
