Albedo arrived at the park and glanced around with a look of amusement at the transformation. Looking at the decorations, one would hardly think they were trapped on an island that stole people's memories. He was still slightly suspicious of the ball and was half expecting something strange to happen, but he wasn't about to let that stop him from having a good time. Though he was annoyed by how loosely the outfit he had gotten for the occasion had fit, even if it was better than a suit. He'd managed to find gloves that continued well under his sleeves and a decent cape, though, and was wearing all white, as usual.

As he finished looking around, he chuckled and said, "Well, this hardly seems like something one would see in a place like this. Alright then, let's see what happens."

Belphegor paused on his way by and chuckled, 'do you normally talk to yourself? How strange.' At the sight of the cape he grinned wider and simply stated 'ridiculous.' The fact that he himself had worn a cape during a similar occasion meant little to him. He was a prince, he could get away with such bold fashion choices.

Albedo looked at the shorter man with no less amusement than before, though at the insult his fingers twitched slightly as he had to remind himself that attacking someone would ruin the entire party and possibly the chance to learn something about himself. "It's certainly better than just standing around and hoping you catch someone's eye. Besides, what better way to find out what kind of person you're dealing with than to listen to their musings?"

Bel grinned at this logic and then shrugged. 'Oh? What sort of person am I dealing with now, I wonder?' He turned on his heels and, with his back to the white clad man, surveyed the room. 'You are right about one thing, just standing about would be boring. I should liven this ball up somehow. What sort of game could be played?'

Ritsu was at the food table, dressed beautifully in a new yukata. Though the feel of the clothing meant for women normally comforted him, he was still a nervous wreck as of right now. For you see, he wanted a way to thank Beauty Queen Etna for even considering him being a date, and the only thing he could think of to please her was to get her something to eat.

Problem was... he didn't know what she liked. A wrong choice would no doubt send him spiraling into a screaming depression. He fidgeted, moving back and forth, up and down, sweating at the difficult choice he thought he had to make.

"I sincerely hope you are not here with the demoness."

The angel appeared with a plate piled high with food, wings crossed behind his back as he gave Ritsu a raised-eyebrow glance. Though he didn't feel any particular sense of compassion for the neurotic young man, it was his job, after all, to protect the world from the workings of the evil ones. That meant Etna. The 'Prince', as well. Admittedly, they did precious little that could be truly construed as evil, but he figured taking advantage of Ritsu would count. The boy was brain-damaged enough.

And besides, it would be interesting to see whether or not he turned into a monkey again.

"And if you are," he continued, "I rather expect she would enjoy some of everything. Gluttony is a sin, after all."

Ritsu nearly fell over from shock, whipping around to look at Ledah. "I'm sorry!"He said immediately, already filled with guilt and self-loathing for whatever he'd done. "I'm sorry for not knowing if Beauty Queen Etan has taken me on for her date or not! She did not give me in the information, but there is no doubt she has chosen someone more worthy of her time!"

He took a few breathes after that rant, and then realized the second piece of information Ledah had given. Gasping at his own stupidity, he shrieked, and grabbed a plate, proceeding to try and fill it with everything possible."Of course! How could I not have realized that if I picked everything, she would at least like one thing on there! I really am the most stupid fool to have ever existed!"

((ooc: Holy crap,Ledah is male? XDDDD I had no idea!))

((Which is why he was hardly in the position to say anything about Ritsu's gender-ambiguity. =P ))

He sighed. It seemed impossible to converse with the boy without activating the triggers that led into a full blown breakdown. Perhaps they could try some method of psychological treatment -- 'I am a strong, confident, assertive person'. Repeat 1000 times, or until you believe it.

"Calm down. You will spill everything if you attempt to pile it onto one plate. And for a more serious suggestion, have you thought of asking 'Beauty Queen Etna' what she prefers?" His guess? Bone marrow and the skulls of prematurely born infants.

Wizarmon hadn't thought much of the entire event, and merely showed up because his friends had asked him to. He was unsure of what to do, as the entire custom was unfamiliar. From what little he could recall of his past, he had never attended - nor wanted to attend - such a festivity. So, until he was told otherwise, he stayed near the bamboo plants, gazing up at the stars.

"... I wonder why I never looked at them before..."

"Possibly the hat obscured your view." Ledah had observed Wizarmon standing stock still for quite some time now. They'd only spoken once in the past before, of course, but he considered that substantial acquaintance enough to begin a conversation out of the blue. "Tanabata is a festival of the stars," he observed conversationally. "Celebrating the meeting of Altair and Vega. Or at least, that was what the texts led me to belive."

Wizarmon glanced upwards at his addressee, and though his mouth couldn't be seen, his eyes looked amused. He gave a friendly tip of the hat, before returning his gaze to the night sky.

"Everyone appears to be celebrating. And it's given me a reason to look at the sky."

"I see." Ledah followed Wizarmon's example, casting his glance upwards towards the seemingly infinite number of glittering stars. It didn't take long at all to spot the two particular stars in question -- For some strange reason, they almost seemed to be shining more brightly than all the others. This was absurd, of course, though he wouldn't put it past the island to alter the firmament to suit its purposes.

"Tradition is to write a wish on a piece of paper and hang them on the bamboo plants." He lowered his head and gestured towards the few strips of tanzaku already put in place. "An odd superstition. The stars are hardly in a position to be aware of your wishes, let alone grant them."

Tear was still asking herself what exactly had happened only a week before. Somehow her rather blunt skepticism had led to her standing here, waiting patiently for her it's-not-a-date (but for the sake of argument) we-are-going-there-together sort-of-friend, not-quite-ally. Honestly she didn't know what he was, although he claimed to be an heir to the throne of Kimlasca and her brother's student, besides. Suffice it to say she was waiting for Luke and at the same time wondering why in the world it mattered if she thought he wasn't fit to run a kingdom. She doubted she was the only one who felt this way ( ... )

Well, with any luck, Tear would find out soon enough. Luke walked down from the apartments, both hands behind his back, wearing the outfit he received when he was made a viscount of Kimlasca (seen here).

As Luke approached, he caught sight of Tear and immediately his cheeks turned red. He'd known she was attractive, but he hadn't expected her to look as beautiful as she did. He gave his head a slight shake to clear those thoughts out of his head, though. He said he was going to prove to Tear how maturely he could behave, and dammit, nothing was stopping him from doing so.

He approached Tear and said, "Sorry I'm late. I thought you'd have waited for me in your room. Anyway..." Luke pulled his hands out from behind his back and offered Tear a tulip and a wrist corsage. "These are for you."

Tear turned her head in Luke's direction. He definitely looked the part - she'd give him credit for that much, although naturally she wouldn't say so to his face. She imagined a compliment like that would go straight to his head. Probably.

"I haven't been waiting long. You never specified where I should meet you, and I assumed you'd eventually wind up right here."

The melodist tilted her head in momentarily puzzlement. This was something she should have asked Estelle about, and having spent her childhood caught up in dreams of joining the Oracle Knights to be with Van, she was a little fuzzy on the details of this sort of thing.

"Is it normal for people to give each other flowers at social events?"

"Well, yeah," Luke said. "At least, it is for the girls to get them. They're not expected to get anything for men."

Then, his cheeks turned slightly red again. "You, uh...you look nice tonight," he said.

Ren stood near a corner, watching as more and more of the island's residents slowly trickled into the vicinity. He hadn't realized before just how populated Memento Eden was. It paled in comparison to the number of employees at LME, to be sure, but there was still a rather sizable group of people making itself known here. Ren was wearing a tuxedo (mun note: take your pick which one, the icons will vary), ever looking the part of a gentleman or a star... or maybe even some of both ( ... )

Departing from Ethan, Syaoran sought yet another corner for him to hide sulk observe from. And yet again, the next corner was already occupied by someone who also looked vaguely familiar. He blinked at the man in the tuxedo for several moments before realizing where he had seen him last.

"Oh. You were . . . You were in that play, right?" Syaoran scratched at the back of his head as he remembered the seemingly interminable catastrophe. He regretted his outburst now, a little. It had just seemed very wrong for them to slander those sorts of things; still, though, he was quite glad Saku -- quite glad nobody he knew had seen him behaving that way. Perhaps he could attempt to make that up a little. "Uhh. Good job."

Ren turned his attention to Syaoran, offering him a smile, although it might have become a little less natural and a little more forced when the play was mentioned.

"Ah. Yes, you're right. I was," Ren managed. At least the audience had been small. This boy had been the only particular onlooker that he had managed to notice.

The actor chuckled a little. He wouldn't have gotten mad, even if Syaoran had said the played stunk. In fact, Ren would have readily agreed with him.

"Don't feel as if you have to compliment anyone who participated. I'm well aware that it was absolutely atrocious, and I regret that I wasn't even able to take it seriously. Hopefully, the next time you see me on a stage - if you see me on one - the circumstances will be better, and we'll have someone more skilled and more concerned with the overall performance and its impact on the audience than what you witnessed."

He paused, and after a moment looked thoughtful, "You seem to be quite knowledgeable about Chinese culture. Is that right?"

"Oh! Yeah . . . " From what he remembered of the play (he'd done his best to block the memories out of his mind past that night), Ren had been one of the ones who had seemed all too aware of the foolishness of the whole thing. "But I thought maybe I should say something nice. Axel disappeared soon after, right?" The man had been his music teacher. He hadn't recognized him up on stage with the costumes and all, but he'd found that out quickly in class the next day.

"I'm from Hong Kong. From what I remember, my family is one of the oldest ones around." His last name was evidence enough of that. One of the many descendants of the Tang dynasty 'Li's, apparently, if the books he had found here were about right. "I don't actually remember too much, but I've been doing a lot of research in the library. Try and figure out what sort of things I know, along those lines."
