Lloyd was excited about this. Even if dressing up was kind of a chore, he wasn't about to resist a party of any kind. The boy's face practically glowed as he took in the sights, the sounds, the people, and the very atmosphere that now surrounded him. Occasionally he would cast a goodnatured grin in a random direction when he noted someone he had met before, after all, they were all friends here, right? Even if they weren't, Lloyd thought it would be a great thing if they could be. It never hurt to be outgoing, and it was way better than hugging a wall in some dark, forgotten corner.

There were so many options; what to do first? The dual swordsman's enthusiasm didn't show any signs of dying out anytime soon, and probably wouldn't for the duration of the event unless the food ran out or everyone decided to leave early.

Lloyd laughed to himself, "This is gonna be great!"

"I sure am!" Lloyd replied before he had even checked to see who was speaking or whether he was the one being spoken to. When he saw Klarth, he just broke into a bigger grin.

"It's great to see you here, Professor! I'm kind of surprised. Seems like a lot of the guys I know were pretty wishy-washy about coming at all. I practically had to bully them into it! ...well, I didn't do that exactly, but they needed some coaxing. Come to think of it, I've only seen one of the problem two. I wonder if maybe he's not coming..."

Lloyd frowned at the thought. He was trying really hard to get those guys to live a little. How could they resist something so fun?

"'Misa-Misa'? I'm not sure I've even met her before, but I don't think I've seen anyone like that around yet. Is she your date, Professor?"

"Well. The rewards offered were a bit too tempting to pass up. I certainly wouldn't be here otherwise." Klarth paused for a few seconds. "Though I suppose there's something to be said for free food and entertainment. And it doesn't hurt to have a bit of a celebration to mark the beginning of summer." Klarth coughed rather pointedly at this -- If Lloyd had signed up for summer school, he hadn't shown himself in Klarth's class yet.

"Now don't pressure your friends too hard. They might just end up being sulky the whole night and not have any fun regardless. And, uhh . . . I've never actually met her before, either, to be honest." Laughing a bit at his own embarrassment, he quickly went on. "Didn't want to be bored if I came here alone, so I put out an open advertisement of sorts. She answered pretty quickly."

Zelos arrived at the edge of the scene, glancing around to see who he recognized. Considering he was only there for the memories, he hadn't gone to a huge amount of effort to dress up, but hey, removing the headband and combing his hair had to count for something. Not spotting anyone immediately whom he felt like approaching, he walked over to a refreshment table, pretending to look at the food as he watched the crowd.

Honestly, he wasn't expecting much out of this, but maybe he'd hear back from that girl he'd asked to the ball. Sure, she was crazy, but that didn't mean he didn't have pride.

Lloyd had spotted the redhead already. He figured Zelos probably wouldn't appreciate it too much if he bombarded him with his usual overly cheerful personality. Maybe if Lloyd tried to be more level-headed and grown-up he wouldn't get so annoyed?

It was worth a shot.

Lloyd glanced to each side, then slowly made his way over to where Zelos was inspecting the food.

"Uh, so, how's the food? If it tastes anything like it looks from over there, it must be pretty spectacular."

Zelos glanced up, then down, remembering that he'd been pretending to examine the food. "Beats me. Why don't you try it?" After hearing Lloyd's words, he couldn't help taking an actual look at the food; it did look pretty good.

Even Lloyd seemed to have gotten pretty dressed up for this thing. "Man... If I'd known it was gonna be this fancy, I might have gotten some clothes..." Whining, he'd found, was a nice comfort zone. It kept people from taking you seriously.

Lloyd laughed, "Too late now, huh? If you had told me you needed something fancier to wear, I would have loaned you money. It's not like I really need it or anything, since a bunch of stuff's free anyway. Oh well, there's always next time, so if you need anything for the next fancy occasion, you can come ask me. I'd be happy to help."

He didn't need someone to suggest it twice. Lloyd selected a sample from the nearest food item and took a healthy bite from it. After a moment of chewing the boy swallowed.

"Not bad, not bad at all! I think they might have overdone it with the spices, but you can't call it anything but good. You should try it."

The moment Danny arrived, he was both relieved and amazed by how different the park looked tonight. The decorations and tables looked incredibly fancy and elegant--even if Danny still didn't know much at all about those plants and tags (despite having done this 'Tanabanana' stuff last year too). At the very least, Danny did not regret buying the suit he was wearing--had he come to the ball in anything other than this suit, he would've felt foolish by now.

Looking around, he noticed he was still among the earliest to arrive. Not even Olette had shown up yet! He decided to wait near the dance floor until she showed up, looking up to the sky in the meanwhile to see all the stars, able to pick out familiar constellations among them.

((OOC: the suit.))

She hadn't counted on her preparations taking so long. Sure, her hair was wavy, but did it really take that long to just wear it all down? Olette couln't help smiling as she slowly made her way over to her boyfriend (wow, she could actually call him that now? It felt... really nice and kinda weird in a way.) She fidgeted with her pearl necklace and thanked herself mentally for not going over-the-top as she had last time. Instead of a yukata, she'd chosen a simple yellow dress and silver flats. (High heels might've been more formal, but seriously? Who could dance in those?)

"Hey," She called as she stopped beside him. "The stars look really pretty tonight, don't they?"

[ooc; And here's Olette's dress.

He hadn't noticed Olette approaching, and quickly turned to glance who began speaking to him. He'd never really seen Olette dressed up so well as far as he could remember (which wasn't saying much, considering his slight memory problem).

"Y-yeah,they're really bright," he stuttered out, realizing that with all the lights, they shouldn't have been so visible. But it didn't really matter. What did matter was trying to think of a compliment that wasn't terribly cheesy. "You...look really pretty too, Olette." He gave her a nervous grin, hoping he wasn't screwing things up. So far, so good. At least his pants hadn't fallen down yet.

Olette nodded, though her attention was obviously more on Danny than the stars. Sure, they were beautiful... but she didn't get a chance to see him dressed up every night now, did she? Beaming as she heard the compliment, she giggled, "Oh, thank you! You know... you look really handsome too."

She was sure her face was completely red, but she didn't seem to care as she hesitantly moved her hand closer to his. "... You know, for some reason, the festival... just seems so much more special this year."

Ethan's appearance at the dance turned a few heads, probably because he was dressed completely as normal, sans the hat. No matter what he hadn't remembered, he knew more or less instinctively that parties didn't suit him. Well, it would probably be only a few hours, anyway. Getting his memories back was important enough. Maybe he'd find someone to talk to, to pass the time.

He had spent the last two hours pacing the first floor hallway, wondering whether or not it was appropriate to knock on the door. If she was already going, she would certainly be getting changed at about this time. Girls took a while to do these things, he knew that. And if she wasn't going, it was a bit late to be asking her now. That he also knew. The optimal situation, of course, would have been for her to open the door and see him casually walking towards the stairway up towards his room dressed in the green, somewhat traditional Chinese outfit he had arrived in. The conversation would have gone something like this.

"Oh! Syaoran! . . . Are you going to the ball now?"

" . . . Uhh."

"That's great! I'm going, too! Just hold on a moment and I'll get ready; then we can go together!"

"S-Sure . . . "

"I'm so glad I caught you! I was afraid I would have had to go alone! This'll be so much fun!"

"Y-Yeah . . . "In his mind, she had then emerged in a red outfit that had matched the green one he had arrived here in ( ... )

He hadn't realized the kid he'd been talking to was so young. Children weren't exactly his strong point... but then again, socializing in general didn't seem to be a talent of his.

"...No. Are you still interested in looking at them?"

((This is a clumsy attempt at saying 'really sorry for dropping that thread'. I think that was when my computer imploded or something. =( Sorry again.))

"Sure. I don't really have anything better to do." Syaoran took a bite of what he had assumed to be a fish ball -- then made a face as it turned out to be a chunk of taro. He set the plate aside and carefully wiped his hands, taking a better look at Ethan out of the corner of his eye as he did so. A rather melancholy sort of guy, he assumed. The type that dressed in all black usually were.

Standing near the edge of the dance floor, Daniel was feeling a little foolish for not dressing up. Admittedly, he hadn't had a job long enough to afford dress clothes, and he wasn't sure who he'd ask to borrow them... At least his normal attire wasn't completely innapropriate for the occasion, and it had only taken a second to get his hair looking presentable.

Daniel almost laughed, realizing that he was worrying about his clothes of all things. For all that everyone was dressed up, this was really just for fun. There were certainly worse things about being on this island than not having fancy clothes.

Looking around with interest, Daniel watched the few people who had arrived. This was a good opportunity to actually get to know some of the people who lived on this island with him - the worst that could happen would be that he'd have to dance.

Damian had given up trying to hide his sour mood and glanced at Daniel grimly as he leaned heavily against a table. 'This is such a waste of time' he hissed, clearly feeling that Daniel had nothing better to do then listen to him vent. 'Why is always balls and dances? Why not another tournament? Or some sort of physical or mental test?'

Daniel admittedly didn't have much better to do, but... Well, while it would be good to stay on good terms with his roommate, was it really necessary for this kid to complain to him? Especially considering he was probably doing it because he couldn't get away with annoying someone he knew...

Avoiding a sigh, Daniel glanced over at him. "I'm sure some people are enjoying this event, at any rate," he pointed out. "...Besides, it's not like attendance was mandatory."

Damian rolled his eyes. 'Some people would be amused by watching paint dry, this sort of thing is right up their alley.' The ten year old glanced at the dance floor with an air of thinly veiled contempt. 'As for attendance not being mandatory, well, it is mandatory if you believe it may lead to a memory regain. I certainly wouldn't be here if they hadn't dangled that particular carrot.'

He sighed heavily and suddenly seemed really interested in his own boots. 'I've been here long enough, I'll do whatever it takes to remember my home...' He glanced up at Daniel, 'what about you? Have you remembered anything since you arrived here?'
