Don't know when I posted last, but...
It's a quiet day today. This gives me lots of time to sit down and think. The craziness of the holidays is over and now on to the next year,calendar year, that is.
The past year has been hell on wheels:

Rainy day, time to write
Since I broke my leg last February, I've worked only an average of 22-24 hours a week. One would think that this gives me plenty of time to rest and get something accomplished. Not so. October 3rd 2010 Dementia report
Confusion - we watch TV, he has Jerry on the phone, excitement because they are showing Ghana, he hangs up on Jerry and admits to having gotten confused.
Word confusion at least once a day, that I notice.
Grumpy and easily agravated for at least 1 week. 'Snuggled' Wednesday, and I was hoping that would aleviate it, but it didn't. -
Neurologist visit for K
Last Friday, September 24th, we went to see the neurologist at Kaiser for a follow-up. It was kind of anti climactic. Basically what she told us, is that we now have to keep an eye on things and observe if there are any changes. She doesn't think that repeated cognitive testing is called for, since most changes should be observable. The next test ( Read more... ) -
Ahhh - crap!
One of the things that led us to the 'normal pressure hydro-cephalus' diagnosis was K's every half hour urinary frequency. That and a wide walking gate, along with signs of dementia. Today...
...today, I got pushed over the edge: In the morning, nothing went right, nothing. So, I went into the bathroom to soak a shirt and take a shower. I turned on the faucet in the sink to soak the shirt and stepped into the shower. When I came out of the shower, my bathroom floor was full of water. Family stuff
I've been in the USA for 36+ years now. For most of those years, I didn't have the means to travel home a lot. I think I've been back a total of 15 times - at most. That's not a lot. I left behind my parents, 3 sisters (16, 14 and 6) and a brother ( 18,later on that became 2 brothers). For one reason or another, my family didn't stay in touch ( Read more... ) -
Saturday
Today, I was supposed to go to work from 3pm on, but yesterday my client called and said that my little one has walking pneumonia and since it's contagious I should not come. My little one also has salt wasting adrenal insufficiency and any illness can cause a fatal secretion of salt and other hormones. Usually, a stress dose of hormones and ( Read more... ) -
Weekend stuff
Weekends usually don't have a lot of activity outside of housework for me. This one was kind of different. But then again, maybe not. Who knows.
Friday, I went to sleep somewhere around 11:30 PM, thinking that I would be able to sleep until at least 8:30 AM on Saturday. I'm a good thinker, really I am. But this thinking didn't really do me any ( Read more... )
