I always tell friends that Atlanta has three good seasons.

It takes some of them a while to figure out that the one I'm leaving out is Summer.

Today, however, is one of those days that I wish we could just repeat. You know, just like in Excel - select the day, extend it out for a month or so, and say "Fill down."

Some of my story is just too much for me to put out in public, even anonymously. For those things, I'll do friends only posts.

It's Spring in the rest of Atlanta.  Longer days, warmer temperatures. But not in our house.  Day by day, the temperature is dropping.  While everyone else dons flip-flops and t-shirts, we put on parkas and thick-soled boots. And glare at each other through the ever thickening fog.

I'd already decided on the Coco Puffs and the chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast when I noticed that one of my kids had taken a slice of the chocolate pudding cake to pack in his lunch.

So what the heck. Who says you can't start your breakfast with a small slice of chocolate cake?

I guess I've always been a bit socially naive.  Or perhaps too trusting at times.  Or maybe just not as in tune with all the nasty ways relationships can go wrong.

"Too trusting" is actually not quite true.  I'm normally pretty shy, perhaps even a little stand-offish if I don't know someone.  But I go with my gut when it comes to trusting people ( Read more... )
