Last night turned out unexpectedly awesome.

I was dead-tired and bored at work, about to go home and take a nap, when shandril called to ask if we wanted to get dinner. I left my regular glasses at work, as I'd put on my prescription sunglasses to drive. Felt weirdly vulnerable walking around the gym without them. Shit is further away at the gym than at home or the office!

Maybe that Claritin isn't going to work out after all. I feel slightly better about an hour after I take it in the morning (or maybe I just imagine it, or maybe it's just the result of standing up for a while) and I haven't had any eye problems yet, but by evening I have a runny nose, congestion, and a lot of sneezing.

Today I went to the bank (something I almost never do) to get a cashier's check.

The teller told me there was a $8 fee, but that we qualify for a much better checking account that would allow us to avoid the fee. In addition, we'd get free checks, some number (infinite?) of free ATM withdrawals from other banks' ATMs, and a bunch of other good ( Read more... )

I went back to the gym yesterday to lift weights for the first time in over 2 weeks.

I decided to try an actual weightlifting program instead of my usual "do 150-200 push-ups and crunches, then do 3 sets of 6 reps of various arm and shoulder exercises, reducing weight as needed" three times a week, adding some additional back and shoulder stuff on ( Read more... )

The fact that the Shi'ar Imperial Guard is a thinly-veiled homage to the Legion of Superheroes, and specifically that Gladiator is basically Purple Superman With Pointy Ears and a Mohawk (his real name is "Kallark," "The Last Son of Strontia"), would make them kind of a joke team if they weren't so effective.
