Has anyone been to Malta? I know there is architecture and sunshine and English spoke, but that's about all.
I want a nice week long holiday. How hot will it be in the middle of September? Will we be lynched for being (not very obviously) queer? Where are the best places to stay? As vegetarians will we get anything to eat other than omelettes?

Some stuff has happened in the last week or two. I'm not going to tell you all of it, but the very sad thing is that on August 3rd my wife's nephew Andrew died aged 20 of pneumonia.

Well it was the hamlet barbecue on Saturday. It was due to start at about 2 pm in our garden, but at 11 am it was piddling down with rain so J&D thoughtfully offered the use of their open-fronted shed to do the cooking in and put up a huge tent in their garden in case the rain didn't stop in time ( Read more... )

My niece is working somewhere down south this week, and she and a colleague had stopped in a service station for petrol and something to eat. The other night I didn't shut the freezer door properly and by the morning it was full of runny ice-cream which had trickled down through the rest of the contents. I hastily shut the door and let it freeze up again until I could work out what to do ( Read more... )
