I did my first half marathon yesterday (13.1 miles, but who's counting?). It was brutal, mostly b/c I have had the flu for the past 2 weeks and am still really congested. Thanksgiving in Miami was nice, although my dad spent most of our vacation in the hospital or recovering. When we landed on Saturday, I got in the rental car and there was a message from my mom to call her. I think it was the first time I have ever heard her upset in regards to my dad's health. Which of these 2 costumes should I wear for Halloween? It's a "bring your kids" party and trick or treating, but the other moms are wearing short costumes too. The only factor that I worry about is the weather. It has been 85 before, but it has also been 35. What do you think? I am going to wear my tall black boots with either... In other news, I ran in our work race last weekend and did really well. I ran the 5K section of a full marathon and finished in 3 minutes, averaging about a 9.5-minute mile. Not bad, considering I rarely run (I prefer the gym MUCH ( Read more... )

I have a million things to do while Curren takes a 15 minute nap, but I wanted to drop off another warning to you all to go to the dermatologist. I had a routine check last week and they found a black spot on my back. Really small, wasn't there last year, not remarkable at all. But they did biopsy it and, sure enough, it came back irregular. Abbey woke up on Sunday and said "I can't open my eyes, mommy." Sure enough, lots of green gunk sticking them together. Scott took her to the Minute Clinic and they agreed that she had pink eye in both eyes. Way to go for mom of the year, who noticed some gunk on Friday but wrote it up to allergies.
