[Let's see how imaginary you think I am when my teeth snaps that ribcage of yours in two, skeleton.

Did he just advertise what he was going to do? Yes. Arlong has always liked to brag.

On the other hand, he's damn fast, a sudden blur of glistening, murderous eyes and rows of jagged teeth, gaping wide open as he crosses the gap in the blink of an eye.]

Ee-! [Oh right. Turns out skeletons are pretty fast too, Arlong. He dodges to the side, narrowly avoiding those teeth as he draw his sword at the same time to cut at the side of Arlong's face.]

[Much faster than Arlong as it turns out; the sword opens a line of crimson across his cheek as he thunders past, crashing into the wall instead and sending cracks through the plaster. The look he turns on Brook as he straightens is full of cold rage-- yet again, some part of it rings hollow-- and he wipes the blood from his face with the back of his hand.

[That was relatively easy. There were a few zombies on Thriller Bark, he thinks now, that were about as strong as this. More formidable than some the underlings - about general strength really, on the lower end of the scale.

He's no threat to Brook.]

[This is about the point where a hammer comes sailing past Brook's left shoulder from behind, only to slam into Arlong's face. We interrupt your previously scheduled badass moment for some flailing now.]

[You wouldn't think a hammer could do so much damage to a fishman, really; nevertheless, the strike stops Arlong in his tracks as he staggers back, clutching his face with an inarticulate growl. And his expression has turned suddenly ... sullen.]

[Brook turns his head and catches sight of that familiar short figure with the cloak. He steps away once - initial reaction still fear because of all of the echoes, this is the one that reminds him most of a ghost. But then again, it clearly means him no harm.

Arlong, on the other hand... Merry picks the hammer back up.]

[Arlong's lip curls back as he watches, but he's already taking a step back. Then he shakes his head and straightens, giving Brook a look of pure disgust.

You're not worth my time.

And with no further warning than that, he fades back into the corner of the room and is gone, leaving only the cracks in the wall and small pieces of tumbling plaster to show he was ever there.

[Said hat that Brook is still holding tightly in one hand as he watches the fishman go. When Arlong is gone, he turns to look back at Merry.]

...I suppose a thank you is an order? [Maybe this little ghost isn't so scary.
