I'm going to buy a macbook! I have mixed feelings about it. They were popular among the computer scientists at my school for being useful to programmers, but I've defined myself for so long as a not-mac user. I think I can get over it. Compiters are the most important tools in my life; I aspire not to depend on having a particular one.

Time Warner was recently in the news for attempting to roll out a ridiculously expensive pricing scheme to some test areas. (The ars technica article shows that it is more than 15 times as expensive as any competition.) I'm flying back to the UK for a training seminar. I leave in a week and come back a week after that. Neato.

Ladies and Gents, I propose a wild party on the weekend before the first serious runs of the LHC. That would be October 19th-ish.

I'm willing to host the party and buy booze and stuff, but if anyone else has a better venue...
