Tools for taking over people's minds via the internet:

PDF995: haven't tried it myself, but it looks less Star Trek than fPDF. If you understand PHP and codemonkey things, you might want to look at fPDF too. Making PDFs is a useful thing, for making flyers, pamphlets, magazines, anything that you'd want to either emulate print or present print- ( Read more... )

I use PDF995 all the time myself, it's dead handy, nothing more than a virtual printer that sends the info to a file instead of a machine, the end result looks exactly the same as a printout unless you're using a background image in word, then it gets a bit pissy. I've really appreciated your journal and sad to see it leave... I wanted to thank you for keeping us informed and entertained, your presence here will be greatly missed.

(also, Planetary is pretty much the best thing I've ever read, so thank you for that as well.)

Cafe Press is ubiquitous with getting your designs onto t-shirts quickly and simply, but there are some things to take into consideration.

The management is crap, they have been known to redelegate accounts without notification, will lie through their teeth about and blame the person who lost the account.

From a consumer side of things, the t-shirt quality is extremely poor. Designs will fade after only a couple of washes. Most of the other products are also quick and nasty.

There is a UK-based alternative call PrintShop (formerly known as i-Merchandiser) which supposedly offers better quality shirts and they also print on black. Drawback is the slightly higher item price and the obscene UK shipping charges. But then any non-American will already have hit that problem via Cafe Press.

There's also a german language Cafe Press clone called spreadshirt. Appears to work the same as Cafe Press and purports to have an English language version up soon.

I just wanted to note that there is a traditionally filmed shot in that movie - when the protagonist wakes up next to the woman, her eyes open, she blinks, and smiles. It's eight minutes long, inspired Twelve Monkeys, and is fantastic; whoever hasn't seen it should try to.
