Rose picked up the mug and moved to the sofa with it. She walked past Jack who watched her until she sat down. When he shot her a questioning look she shrugged and took a sip of the perfectly brewed coffee.

Jack thought for a moment and moved off to follow Ianto.

“Hey, what happened out there?” Jack asked when he found Ianto looking out of the circle window.

“She was talking about Lisa.”

“What did she say?” Jack placed a hand on Ianto’s shoulder and leaned closer to him.

“I don’t want to talk about it Jack.” Ianto sighed. “She told me she could make me happy.” he looked up at Jack whispering, “She said she could make me forget.”

“Do you want to forget?” Jack leaned into him closer.

“No. No, I just need to make new memories.” Ianto looked straight into Jack’s eyes, turning himself in Jack’s grasp so he was facing him.

“We will make new memories.” Jack lowered his head and kissed Ianto gently on the lips.

“We should get back.” Ianto managed as he pulled away and straightened his tie.

“Ianto.” Jack called across his office, but Ianto had already got back with the others in the autopsy bay. He could see why Ianto always came to this spot in his office, you could see everything but nobody could see you, like how Ianto had lived his life so far in Torchwood.

Jack shook himself mentally and walked back out of his office, hands stuffed in his pockets as he strode to the group that had settled around the sofa.

“So, what have we got?” Jack looked at Tosh as he spoke, then looked round to Rose. She was curled up next to Chris, holding his hand tightly.

“Still nothing, these are perfect readings. The fog doesn’t seem to be affecting her in anyway whatsoever.” Tosh organised the screens so that they showed a test on each before explaining the processes and what would be different if it was.

“Well, that leaves us no option. We know this fog is affecting Rose. If it has the ability to take over her speech then it may be able to change her stats. Rose, we’re going to have to make you faint again. We need to find a way to get you unconscious again. Owen is it safe? Can we do it?”

“She should be ok now, yeah.”

“Right, so what are we waiting for? Let’s get this done as soon as we can.” Jack smiled at Rose and retreated back to his office before Rose could protest anymore.

Rose, you have to stop them. You have to stop them now. I’m not strong enough! As soon as they make you weak they will be able to get me. You can’t let them do this.

“Owen, do we have to do this now, please. I don’t want to be put under again. There must be something you can do.” Rose shifted on the sofa, staying firm.
