Our Princess, 19+ years old, has spent the weekend at the vet hospital. She appears to have lost the use of her hindquarters, which is A Bad Thing. Our vet is very optimistic, and trying all sorts of aggressive treatments. She is now much more responsive and is eating well, but she still can't stand or walk with her back legs. I am going to miss Himself tremendously, but I am comfortable with where he is staying, so that's something. Video chat with Skype will help, and I am coming back on 9/22 for FenCon/DeepSouthCon. He is going to try to get home for Labour Day. I'm sure the six months will go quickly. I'm not going to miss the temperatures in Dallas.

I'm really having trouble taking it all in, and I'm thousands of miles away. Please let us know that you are alright. We have been so disconnected from the news because we were driving down to Dallas, that this has all come as quite a surprise.

It's 11:30 PM and it's still 96 degrees. I can't wait to get back to Tennessee. But I'm really going to miss my honey.

Our cable connection at home has taken a lightning strike, so we have no internet connection. We also lost a couple of computers and a television, in spite of everything being on surge protectors.
