I've never been a cat person, but they're starting to grow on me.

I love pets, or more specifically, other people's pets. If I saw a friend walking their dog down the street, I would probably kneel down and say hello to the dog first, enthusiastically smiling at it and scratching behind its ears. Only then would I stand up and greet my friend with a "Hi" that sounds half-hearted in comparison. And if, in a moment ( Read more... )

Ideally, I would live near the woods and wild animals would visit me to be petted or have their ears scratched and then leap back into the forest. No fuss, no muss.

Maybe, if she wasn't also wearing sunglasses. Sunhat plus sunglasses means she's tailing someone and doesn't need her cover blown by someone clumsily trying to start a conversation with her.

That's why I love cats, low resposiblity, but they can be pretty fun. We taught ours how to play fetch.

My sister has a cat! And a reasonable amount is all I really want. Dogs can be so enthusiastic I actually feel a little bad when I have to gently push them aside with my leg and say, "Not now." A cat would understand. They might hold it against you, but that's only fair.

Speaking from personal experience of having been dragging down a gravel drive on my belly by a dog... It's funny in first-person perspective, too. After the pain fades, anyway.

That's a good to thing to know. In case that ever happens to me, I won't panic. What breed of dog was it? My family has only ever had tiny dogs that you could hold like a football.

That's the funny thing. He wasn't a large dog - maybe two feet tall at most, probably didn't weigh more than 30-40lbs. Although, admittedly, I was only 9 or 10 at the time. He was a mix between Australian Shepherd and ____? Very enthusiastic about his hereditary herding impulses. He would see a cow, or a deer, or anything that ate grass and stood on four legs and he'd be off, person holding the leash be damned.

He was also a very strong dog. We cut down a tree to chain him to because spikes in the ground and cinder blocks weren't enough. Even after that he would sometimes drag the entire log partly across the parking section of the drive.
