What is it that determines where you belong? Is it where you were born, or where you were raised? Our mind is forever besotted with happy memories from days long gone. Do they have something to do with our sense of belonging / being lost? Or is it something more defined, say, a language, a culture, a bunch of traditions? A history chapter, perhaps ( Read more... )

Keralite by birth but born in Goa, raised in Chandigarh,Ahemdabad,Hyderabad now settled in Bangalore. Can speak,read and write Punjabi,Hindi,speaks fluent Telegu .Can't speak Mallu to save my life-- where do I belong??

Quite thought provoking. After reading this, the phrase "Abide where there is no abiding" comes to mind.

Just some ideas floating through my head and landing here. Your opinions may vary.

I consider this final piece of your writing as the best of what you wrote.

I can relate to this entry in multiple ways...

I was born in a certain country, speaking a certain language. Came to the United States when I was 19, and now I spend most of my time with a community other than the one where I come from (although I do spend time with them).

Where do I belong? It is me or is it others who determine it?
