I feel your pain (which is why I haven't been in trivia for so long...). I have not met a single satisfied Dell customer. I agree with Eryn's analogy, but even for Yugos, this is bad...I think...I've never driven a Yugo. I don't except my Dell to work well, I just expect it to work. But apparently that's too much to ask. Good luck with yours. And at least you have Fred. I've found that Dell tech support only responds to males.
Miss you in trivia, dear. You're always so smart, and funny too!
I've had the "you're a mere woman, we don't want to talk to you" attitude from auto mechanics, so I hear you there.
Next time I need a new computer, we'll probably go back to Gateway (says me, typing on the 2000 model Gateway at the spa, which has never EVER had anything break on it, at all, ever).
Awww, don't be depressed. It's just one of those things, ya know? Once I switched from Toyotas to Hondas I was happy, so maybe once you switch from Dells to Gateways, you'll feel better too.
Also, playing trivia helps chase away the blues. ;)
I have a Dell and am perfectly happy with it. It's a little slow to open documents, but other then that it works perfectly fine and does everythign I want it to. I've never heard of anyone around here haveing problems with thiers either. All of my friends that have Dells are happy with them.
Not sure what to tell you. My dad has a Gateway that he likes. Maybe try them?
Yeah, my first computer (and I'm actually typing on it right now, at work) is/was a Gateway. Nothing has ever broken on it, and it's 8 years old. It's not fast or flashy, but I know it will be here, waiting for me to do spreadsheets or documents, whenever I need it. It's just too slow/clunky to play Sims2.
Heh. I've owned Dell's since 1998 and never had a problem. In fact, I've only owned two Dells since 1998 because I've never had a problem. Occasionally, I have to update a driver and the one I have is going on 4.5 years old and could use more RAM, but it's totally fine. Runs Sims2 and everything.
Dang, you have good computer karma! I just wonder if I got a lemon. That happened with my first car too. Everyone told me how great Toyotas were, so I bought a new Tercel. The engine needed replacing three years after I bought the darned thing, despite me taking it in for every single regularly scheduled service. Maybe machines don't like me. :p
We have Macs and my dad has always had IBM. If you don't have computery tendencies, I'd skip the IBM, but I have been mostly pleased with the Macs I've met.
Fred always teases me, because I have to reboot my Windows computer three or four times a day when it hoses up. He says he's never had to reboot his Mac laptop in four years. Honey, if Macs run Sims2, etc., then maybe it's time I switched.
