Good and evil

I was reflecting today about good and evil, and I finally came to one conclusion. Human beings are good by convenience. We would be evil, and rule by strength, but that only assures us that someone stronger would come to bully us around, so instead we decide to be good, cos it´s more convenient on the long run (so no stupid "human beings are good

What about people who feel horrible after hurting someone, or offending someone?

We all get angry, and we will all get into situations where we feel justified in putting outselves, our feelings or physical well being, above others. But outside of this situations, i believe that most people do not want to make other people unhappy.

I think the real varriable is the point where people cross over from being nice into drawing inward, into self preservation-driven cruelty.

Well, there are indeed a few good people by nature, but I was more aiming for humanity in general, not individuals. Of course, there are good people (and I usually consider myself as one, whether I´m right or wrong, as well as I like to think that my friends are that too), but, as a rule of thumb, humans aren´t so.
