This is the end of my third week of in-home caregiving. The third day I started a haggard and frantic post, but it will stay on private forever because no one needs to know about all that. Suffice it to say I am now much better at cleaning elders' bottoms.

So, shockingly, it turns out my eldercare dream has a different reality. Almost broke, I signed up for a job at this agency, showed up for training last Friday which basically consisted of signing a lot of confidentiality agreements and nothing else, and then they scheduled me for clients this week. Today I was driving down the street and I saw this old, fucked-up looking guy (lots around here!) immediately followed by two boys, maybe 17 and possibly in polo shirts, looking so fresh and short haired. Portland, in case you didn't know, is the city of roses. It is also the city of best places to hang out when you don't have a job. I think we can all see how dangerous this combination may prove to be.
