It's fabulous having a partner who gets federal holidays off. I like nothing more than spending long weekends together, and this one is a 4 day weekend.

Today my Uncle Alan had a massive heart attack. He had gotten polio the day the vaccines were being given. That is, he got it before vaccination. Because of the polio, his body just didn't fare well over the years. The last few years he's had small strokes and heart problems. crouchback and I are reading this book. I was very very young the first time I read it. I didn't understand a lot of the bigger words, such as when the mole was cleaning his "lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing".
