So, I flew yesterday, on the day of the big fluids-on-a-plane fiasco. The security people at the Austin airport pretty clearly thought the entire thing was kind of silly. They didn't make sure that the Nalgene bottle in my backpack was empty, and I saw people walking onto the plane obviously carrying drinks. I think their take on it was similar ( Read more... )

I just posted about my experiences in Boston before reading this entry. Logan was not even allowing drinks purchased in the "sterile" area after you had cleared security. Perhaps their higher level of alert was because they have more international flights to europe?

The posted rules in the Austin airport prohibited that as well, but no one was paying any attention to them.

Logan is likely to be watched more, given that their security people have a history of being completely incompetent and that the 9/11 flights originated there. Sometime I should post about the sorts of things I used to get through Logan security.
