update on the "thrice-knit sweater"
Last night I took off the arms and ripped them out. I have a big ball of yarn now, and a torso. Again. I messed around a little, to figure out how many stitches I want for the sleeves. I am going to do a small lace "thingy" down the middle of the sleeve, too, I think. I think I have it figured out, and should be able to really start in tonight -

this last week, and the coming weekend
So, I haven't been online all week. I was getting a cold over Thanksgiving, and although it never got too bad, symptom-wise, it did affect my inner ears. I've been having dizzy spells since Tuesday morning. I went to the doctor on Wednesday evening, and she said that viruses will sometimes do that. It should get better eventually. We had Thanksgiving with just the two of us. We're house-and-dog-sitting for my in-laws, since they went to Whistler for the holiday. And my family does Thanksgiving on the Saturday after, so everyone can have the day with their in-laws ( Read more... ) -

Weekend update
I finally used the apples that I was given, and made some apple butter. I cooked it in the slow cooker, so it got to simmer all night on Saturday and all day yesterday. I tasted it a few times throughout the process, and ended up not adding any sugar. I was surprised at how much sweeter it got. It did reduce a lot. I think there was about a ( Read more... ) -
I have learned...
...in the last 24 hours, that water from steaming artichokes turns a DARK kelly green. I surmise this is because it takes less water to steam them than to boil them, so the color is more concentrated ( Read more... ) -
Let there be light!
I just realized that even though it is cloudy out, I haven't had lights on, except in the bathroom when I showered. Enough light comes in through the windows to see what I'm doing, and to not be too gloomy. This is a good thing ( Read more... )
