We had Thanksgiving with just the two of us. We're house-and-dog-sitting for my in-laws, since they went to Whistler for the holiday. And my family does Thanksgiving on the Saturday after, so everyone can have the day with their in-laws ( Read more... )

Thanksgiving on the Saturday after is a pretty good idea. :-)

Roasted fingerling potatoes sounds yummy, as does fresh cranberry sauce. Did you make a cooked variety or an uncooked variety? I really like the orange-cranberry uncooked stuff, but was prevented from making it due to a lack of a food processor or blender and a disinclination to manually chop quite that much. :-)

What did you decide to do with the sweater?

We made the cooked variety of cranberry sauce, with no orange. We weren't at home, and I don't think Sean's mom has a blender, either.
I think I've decided to take off the arms and go with the sleeve idea I posted recently. I just haven't had the heart to go back to it again, yet.

I am currently knitting a shawl with the fluffy mohair blend. I bought some more of it on Friday. (It was on sale, so I dragged Sean into Michaels! He was not very pleased!) I had one ball of white, and I had gotten another in pink, since I bought the white a while ago and they were on to new dye lots. But I decided I didn't want another pink shawl, so I got two balls of "soft earth" (a creamy/brownish color) and two more of the white. I figure the white bits will be separated enough that it won't be bad. I'm aiming for a big square. I finished off the first white ball, and started in on the first brown one, just making a rectangle. Then I picked up stitches along one side and did two sides for a while. Then I put those on another needle for a while, and kept going up. I have started the second ball of white, and will do some more down the side soon, I think. I didn't want it just in stripes. I wanted the colors to be more mixed together. I'm not absolutely sure how it is going to turn out. :)
