Yay! Yep, I've been a 1776 for *years*! PBS used to show it every July 4, but I don't think they've done that for a long time. So I wound up buying the DVD so I could have my own freedom celebration whenever I wanted. :)
I love "Cool, Cool Considerate Men" and all of the John/Abby interactions the best. And the Richard Henry Lee song makes me laugh.. uproarious-LEE!
OK, for icons, I want to know about Kipper Kirk, Fascintating, and Courting. For interests, tell me about Alan Moore, Ed Exley, and Naraku/Kagome. I've never heard of any of those!
1776: I just saw this for the first time last winter for some reason, and I fell in love with it immediately. So funny! And William Daniels is delightful.
Fanfic: I have almost the same story, but I started watching in earnest last spring (around the time that "House vs. God" aired - that's when I first noticed the H/W yumminess).
Hugh: Same here, except for the Stephen part. I've been a fan of Stephen's since "Peter's Friends" (I never really noticed Hugh in that until after "House". Silly me.) and then "Wilde". I was completely intrigued to find out that the two of them were best friends. Now, like you, I can't get enough of them! (I can't believe I just bought that Jeeves clock!)
GIMP: Oy, that name! Hee. I'm all for free stuff, though! If I'd known it existed before I got PSP, I might be a GIMP person, too.
Yeah, I can see how you'd kind of miss out on Hugh in "Peter's Friends" over Stephen. He was lovely in that movie (as he is always!). And "Wilde"... *swoon*! What a fabulous piece of work.
So for interests, I'd like to know more about hindi films, harlem renaissance, and old movies... how did you get interested in all of them? :)
For icons, tell me more about Toys Rock, Amy, and SV Tasty.
I've always loved old movies. I was pretty much obsessed as a kid, and read a lot about the the old stars. Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, and Astaire and Rogers are some of my favorites. I think my favorite movies are the old screwball comedies.
I've heard of the Indigo Girls, but I don't know any of their music. I will make an effort to listen to some!
Yay for co-challenge posting duties! I'd love to chat; I have a user name on Windows Messenger, googletalk, and AIM, or if you prefer we can email. I have a few ideas for challenges already, so I'm looking forward to this! :D
For icons: What are you doing?, walking in a scent of loveliness, and teddy one. I'd like to know why you like them and how you got some of the effects.
For interests: icon making (how did you get interested?), the boondock saints (never heard of them!), and typing (typing??)
OMG. *finally notices exactly what's happening in your Freddykins/Eric icon* *giggles* Bwuahahahahahahahahaha! I saw that screencap and my dirty little mind went right into the gutter... and a slash icon was born! :)
I didn't realize those were all QI things when I picked them, but yay! for me that that's how it turned out! My Stephen radar must have been extra strong. Those Dialogs are all excellent; thanks for sharing! I completely died laughing at the custard one... I MUST find that video and watch! :)
Icons: Bertie blue eyes (one of my favorites), trapped in icon, and Brian Mikey hugs
Interests: Daniel Jackson (who is he and why is he an interest?), writing (how did you get started writing fanfic?), and wodehouse (how long have you been a fan?)
Ah, good ones. The Bertie blue eyes icon is by icons_of_isis and it's just such a good shot of him. I remember that fabulous story that followed Jeeves through some of his earlier employers and showed how he came to work for Bertie, and when they first meet face to face he thinks how the Ganymede book should have made some mention of the extraordinary blueness of his eyes. That icon always reminds me of the story.
The trapped in icon one is by taelonmahal and it's got David Hewlett (from my David Hewlett, how are you so awesome? phase) in his exceedingly weird movie, Nothing. I always thought it was a bit funny and meta
( ... )
he thinks how the Ganymede book should have made some mention of the extraordinary blueness of his eyes And that right there? Is how fandom slash squee-ness is born.
I've never seen Queer As Folk (never got the premium cable channels), but I've been meaning to rent it. I take it you'd recommend it?
Your story of finding Wodehouse via Hugh is exactly the same as mine! I posted my first J/W after being on LJ for about a month having never read any of the books at all (but having seen the shows over and over and over). I agree; this is a wonderful fandom!
...I suspect this reply may have gotten longer than I meant it to. No, no, no, it was perfect! Thanks for sharing all the great information, m'dear! :)
