Some plans are being foiled.

I thought 6 days was quite enough advance planning... apparently, it is not.

I have 20 minutes to go 20 blocks.

It's a bit of a crap-shoot as to whether or not I'll make it.

Not making it means I've got an extra 30 minutes in NYC, just enough time to do nothing.

One of my grad students asked yesterday how I manage so many projects at the same time. Ze mentioned that I'm working on a couple stats-ed things, some proof things with a couple different people, and have a few papers in different stages of drafts ( Read more... )

I have to certify effort on a grant funded project. I have to do training. In case you are wondering, Effort is not based on a 40-hour work week.

They give the example: Your position is full time however you normally work 80 hours per week. Your total university effort is 100%.

Some young women just sent their exchange students out into the world. They mean so well, but they've just directed the students to not give any tips except in restaurants, not even cab drivers.

They gave some other great advice, but that piece... Will make for some very sad cab drivers.

10:30->to the car! Then bus+bus
6:30: P'mouth

What then? No one knows!

Things I need to work on today:
1) R&R
2) That other paper I'm writing
3) Review for journal, I'll read it on bus 1. It's my first read-though. I'm just going for a skim and initial impressions
4) Send some email about student
