Another one bites the dust...

Another week gone, and still no OSAP $$...I really hope that the repayment office doesn't try to take even more $$ from my account at the end of the month, cuz my funds won't hold up for bills & rent if they do. Don't know if I've mentioned classes yet in previous posts, but here goes anyways:( Read more... )

That's what 8 AM classes do to you when you live an hour commute from class

I hear ya, brutha, loud an' clear. And IEEE means something different to us computer types :p

I second that IEEE is the Engineering way of literature. They have a whole database.

of suckyness...but that's not my real beef with English...it's the fact that you don't really know what is due, and when it's due. The guy's using a cryptic way of telling you when things are due (i.e. the Friday of the week before your Topic I selection is discussed in class, etc.) AND he's even worse with explaining what he wants. What's worse? We had to hand in a semi-formal report before he explained what his definition of a semi-formal report was :S

yeah, but you only ever had 8:30 classes...not that it's much of a difference...I imagine you'd still have had to be out of the house before 7 to make it in for 8:30s if you were taking a bus to get in (even with the new IXpress or whatever it's called)

How come all your classes are so easy? Where's the challenge? (ie: after you graduate, how will employers look at the curriculum you're in?)

Why are they so easy? They have to assume that not everybody coming into the program knows the basic materials (and some people ARE struggling in math now). They've designed the program with the assumption that you've never coded before in your life, so that makes it harder too, cuz I have.

The challenge comes in 2nd and 3rd year, when courses have basically the same descriptions as some of UW's courses (mostly their 3rd year courses, but some even seem similar to 4th year courses). That and I'll be relying on my co-op experiences and my contract job when I took the year off for experience. I'm only getting the degree as a piece of paper so that I'm not passed over for promotions/raises because those things end up being important in those two areas.

ok - makes more sense now. I was worried you were wasting your time.

Well, I AM wasting my time this semester (and maybe even next semester), but it'll be worthwhile next year. I did a whole lot of research on programs when I decided that I'd be going to college this fall and I was hoping they'd start me in 2nd year, but they said "no"...so, I'm padding my average :P
