The tv had just been turned off, the room was dark and it was very late but there was no way I could settle enough to sleep. The one I was sharing a bed with, because there were only two beds in the room and three people, one of which I had only JUST met a few hours before, made my heart race and I couldn't help my mind having a million thoughts racing through it. What was I supposed to do... what was I not supposed to do.. should I do something.. what if it wasn't returned.. what if, what if, what if... but I couldn't miss the opportunity, I couldn't not do something.. I had to try. It felt like it took all the effort I could possibly ever muster to slide my hand towards theirs, to gently, tentatively place my hand over theirs, that moment when our fingers slid together and we were suddenly connected the way I had been hoping to connect but couldn't really admit until that moment.
