221better 'verse
This is an AU 'verse that armydoctor and I started up with the premise that Holmes and Watson shacked up shortly after becoming friends, which means no marriage to Mary, etc. etc. It starts out with the boxing match that changes everything~ and quickly grows to epic, canon-rewriting proportions.

Holmes drags Watson to a boxing match because he wants to show off to his Totally Heterosexual Flatmate that he's strong and fit and awesome just because he has a big ego and not for any other reason. Watson's still recovering from the war, but rallies enough to be impressed and a little aroused by the whole thing.
2) Watson wines and dines. [SH, JW, adult]
Watson takes Holmes out for dinner with the money he won from betting on him, and they're both eager to go from the chaste, occasional kisses they've been swapping for something a little more intense.
3) Dear Mycroft. [SH]
Holmes writes to his brother, in Holmes speak, about the turn of events.
4) A wild Lestrade appears! [SH, JW, GL]
You should really learn to knock, G.

6) It'sa tripa to Italy! [SH, JW, adult]
Holmes and Watson go on a trip to exotic Switzerland India Italy and bond, and Holmes maybe moves them a little faster than he should. Also someone tries to kill them with a snake.

Their first night back at Baker Street goes exponentially better (sort of literally) until Holmes has a freak out related to the Snake Assassin.
8) Baby, Come Back! [SH, JW, GL, adult]
Holmes comes home disappearing all week to rustle up clues about their attempted murder, and G. Lestrade decides that hey, maybe he ought to like... talk... to Holmes and Watson.
9) Hey, hey, you, you, get the fuck away from my boyfriend [SH, JW, adult]
He sees what you're thinking, Mary, and he doesn't like it and convinces himself that Watson's all into it too, and he throws a snitfit.
10) Get in, loser, we're going to dinner [SH, JW, MH]
Holmes surprises Watson with a meet the bro dinner, and they get the genius idea to do a little matchmaking.
11) Find me a find, catch me a catch [SH, JW, MM, GL]
Completely coincidentally, Holmes calls Lestrade over at the same time that Watson is about to take Mary out to dinner. How strange! Warning: fucking cuteness.
12) Your new OTP tbh [GL, MM]
G sends M a few letters and a telegram, and she writes him one back. Have a bucket handy, you might have to vomit rainbows.
13) Don't forget to RSVP [GL, MM, SH, JW]
G and M break the news to -- well, to Watson, because Holmes knew as soon as he heard them on the staircase.
14) Mr. Shit, Meet Mr. Fan [SH, JW]
Remember that snake death attempt? So does their assassin.

Holmes and Watson get festive, snippy, and then naked.

Holmes has got a bad case of lo-- no, actually, just a bad infection from a knife wound he didn't tell anyone about. Mrs. Hudson's first appearance!
Reichenbach and Beyond
these take place sometime after the previous set of threads
1) Take the Last Train to Clarksville [SH, JW]
Holmes meets Watson at the station (sort of), and they don't know if they're ever coming home because they're fleeing London to escape Moriarty. After a time warp, Moriarty escapes, and they argue over whether or not Watson should go back to London.
2) In which I almost referenced Estudiante de Salamanca but then I didn't [SH, JW, adult]
Holmes and Watson have an awesome night, which is good because it's their last night together. Holmes's nagging feeling of doom is pretty accurate.
3a) The Final Problem [SH, SM]
The final problem isn't Moriarty or Holmes at all.
3b) The Magic Trick [JW]
Watson lets Holmes out of his sight, and he misses the trick.
4) Curtains Closed [JW, MM]
The show is over, and Watson turns to Mary in his grief.
5) The ghosts still left behind [JW, GL]
A day or so after Holmes's memorial, G visits Watson.
6) One flash of light but no smoking pistol [SH, SM]
Ashes to ashes, funk to funky, we know Mr. Holmes's a junkie, but you would be too if you had a semi-psychotic assassin after you.
