Worked on my pieces last night and today. I have to start over with my nest one- the nest got lost! Meaning, you couldn't tell there was a nest there anymore. Oh well! I'm making another transfer of it right now. So, here is what I have for the other two:

I'm leaving in a few minutes for Fargo. I decided to spend an extra night so will be away until Thursday morning. I really don't like this. What I wanted to be a subtle gold now looks yellow. It looks like a gooky mess to me. Please give suggestions.

I ended up working on my two pieces and have to admit that I'm not too sure I'm happy with them.... I added more texture and did the dry brushing... I wasn't impressed with the look... too light.. so I dry brushed a bit with a darker paint... didn't like that either. So, what's a girl to do when she's not happy ( Read more... )

Last night, I added more rice paper and more leaves and dried flowers. Today, I added the paint, more gesso and the moshi cloth. I only added a tiny bit of the moshi as I found it to be a bit overpowering. My objective was to maintain that aged look that I've been trying to get and to add a balance of color and texture. Finally have steps 1 and 2 done on my canvas. It's pretty funky-looking...but I'm hoping it'll liven up when the other steps are applied. I'm only working on the one--might've screwed up there :D

So today, I added the rice paper. It was too thick, so I tore it apart to thin it. It contained rose petals and dried leaves and I decided to leave those in because they were beautiful colors that went well with my image and also because they added to the aged look that I wanted for this piece. Here goes....
