Post Xmas Sales
I went to the sales yesterday, but didn't buy much. A few DVDs at JB HiFi, 3 pairs of trousers at Millers (most of my home-made ones are starting to fall to bits), and lastly an expanding draining sieve that fits the sink. I'v been wanting the sieve for a while, but half-price is better. -
New food processor
Just prior to Xmas my food processor died on me. As it is an essential piece of equipment, in my opinion, I didn't want to be without one over the Xmas period, so I went to Harvey Norman to buy a replacement. They had 2 on display - a Breville Ikon and a Sunbeam Cafe Series. Looking at them there seemed to be little to choose between them, except ( Read more... ) -
The Joy of Christmas
I don't normally enjoy Christmas much, but this year proved to be the exception. I have been with Les for 13 years now. He was a widower when I met him, and so I was very aware of standing in the shadow of his late wife, and for years I felt as though I was walking carefully over eggshells, and trying not to break them. Xmas lunch at MacFarlane Court
Today, after being awake for much of the night, I went back to bed about 4am and slept through till nearly 9.45am and woke to find Smokey nestled against me with his paws resting on my shoulders. On Monday of this week Stumpbusters came to bore out 2 tree trunks in the front garden. It was amazing as in all it took about 10 minutes! The area of the supposed garden is now ready to be dug over, but will probably wait until the new paths have been laid. The current front path is a decaying one inch layer of cement, probably laid 90 years ago, ( Read more... ) -

This is the 'Tha Phae Gate, in the east side of the wall surrounding the ancient city of Chiang Mai. This is the only gate still standing, and in the past has been open but they evidently were making repairs at this stage, since it is blocked by corrugated iron 'fence'.
