About a month ago, I spied this lovely hawk living in a Cottonwood tree in my front yard. I'm no birds of prey expert but I think it's either a ferruginous hawk or a Swainson's hawk. Whatever it is, I hope it doesn't eat my cat!

It truly was the sweltering dog days of summer here in Texas this year. In case the rest of the country and world wasn't aware, we had a major drought and record-breaking heatwave. I am officially moving from my apartment just south of the river to to a duplex in north-central Austin. The move will tentatively take place in mid-May, and yes, I'm thrilled and excited, though I will be sad to leave south Austin.
