I've discovered the joy of mat cutters. With almost no measuring, I can make a nice little bevel frame--and, call me crazy, but almost anything I put in there looks ten times better than if it were just lying around my messy apartment. I'm convinced that I can slap a nice mat over some crumpled gum wrappers and it would actually look like art. And ( Read more... )

I've been back for almost two weeks now, and am really enjoying the late sunsets. There are so many more useful hours in the day now--time for me to scan in the elite few prints from our pile of nearly 20 rolls of film. Today I did at least 3 things I've never done before:
Held a koala. (why did no one warn me of their rank odor?)
Hand-fed kangaroos and wallabies. (they're like bouncing deer!)
Drove a public ferry boat down the Brisbane river. (*maniacal grin*)

Here I am in downtown Brisbane, on the 27th floor of the Admiralty Towers on the Brisbane river. From time to time, falcons and bats fly by, but for some reason I keep missing them.
