Beautiful, bemused, bellicose ...

It's going to be a busy day at the law school setting up media interviews, etc.

I do believe it is "harbinger of haggis."

I went through a Mike Myers phase in 6th grade that meant I watched all his movies obsessively.

Conspiracy Theory: I think Harriet was nominated for the sole purpose of expecting her to step down and make Bush's second choice look better. I wouldn't put it past him.

Untrusting. Unknowing. Unloved?

Hey there, I just thought I'd check out your page because we share a favorite book, and because "need for cognition" is quite relevant to a big writing project I'm working on, so your name really caught my attention! Take care.

It's not every day I run across Mary Russell fans. :)

What project are you working on right now? Do you work in academia?

I don't quite work in academia, I'm a researcher (but not a Ph.D.) at a nonprofit health behavior research institute, Oregon Research Institute. Mostly we work on helping people who want to quit tobacco. (It's a lot like academia in that we get federal grants, do research, and publish papers, but there's no teaching.)

The project I mentioned, though, is separate from that. I'm working on creating a new model of persuasive message processing that takes message content into account (right now, they generally don't). I have a first draft of a much-too-long paper, but it needs a lot more work! :)

I'm kind of a missionary for Mary Russell, come to think of it. I've gotten at least five people to read the first one. I was delighted when I started to tell one of my coworkers about her, a few weeks ago, and it turned out she'd read them all except the most recent!

I'm glad to "meet" you!

That is really cool. The program I got my Masters from is top-notch in health communication. I'm guessing given your research interests that you've run across Phil Palmgreen? I'm impressed with anyone who even attempts model construction. :)
