My eye surgery is coming up tomorrow. For an exciting preview of what may be in store for me, I give you the following quote from my doctor's informational brochure: "In the first few days you may experience strong pain, tearing, burning, reddening, and light sensitivity, comparable to being hit in the eye with a branch. Pain medication is allowed ( Read more... )

*HUUUUUUUUUGS*

I remember when I had a concussion, I listened to Harry Potter audiobooks (because obviously i had not been prepared for that concussion and it was all I had available) and I was sooo bored. The concussion lasted a week, so maybe yours will go over faster...

Hee, for some reason the fact that someone posted a youtube link made me think of Quite Interesting. If you haven't seen it, it's all talk and very little visuals, and there's tons of it and maybe it's something else for a change. I usually like it, but then Stephen Fry is always great.

Series K as an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwZBEo2JHIw&list=PLCkxO8MoPCzmN2Nftmz3X1kQA2j7VhL0T

Bookmarked, thank you! Man, I'm going to be so cranky if I can't read anything for a week, you can't even imagine. I refuse to believe that will happen.

I've already downloaded Night Vale and am definitely planning to use this opportunity to finally get into it! Haven't heard of the Bugle before, but it sounds like it might scratch the itch left by the absence of the Daily Show in my life.

The Bugle is so lovely! There are a shitload of episodes and I'm not sure they're all on the soundcloud page (cause they had to switch from being hosted by The Times to independent hosting halfway through). In case the early ones aren't, get them here http://www.gamesplusone.com/thebugle/

Hit in the eye with a branch? Seriously? That is a bizarre thing to tell a patient.

I KNOW RIGHT??? And this is their official informational brochure! I wouldn't blame them if they'd just mentioned it in casual conversation, I mean, sometimes you're trying to simplify a complex topic for a patient and the metaphor gets away from you a bit, that's happened to me before, and I certainly wouldn't like to be quoted on some of the crazier stuff I've told people while trying to make them understand what a coronary angiography will feel like. But still. IT'LL FEEL LIKE BEING POKED IN THE EYE WITH A STICK. Thanks, guys, that's awesome.

I second Welcome to Night Vale! Was just about to suggest that myself.

Other than that, I have some very nice Hockey RPF slash podfics, and a Merlin and Harry Potter one, and even a very amusing Alien one, if any of that interests you...?

Just getting into podfic myself, so my selection is relatively limited.

I do have some audio books I could send you by snail mail...? Harry Potter books, Das Parfüm, Umberto Eco (in German), The Hobbit, and some others I'd have to go check.

Absolutely, link me please!

I'm really hoping I'll be done with the worst of this before any snail mail packages could get to me, but thank you so much for the offer!

Do you Dropbox? Because I don't have all the links to the podfics anymore, I just threw everything into a dropbox folder for you and sent an invite to your LJ email addy. Theoretically you should get an email and be able to join up.

If you want me to add a different email addy, just let me know!

I eon't think the lj address works anymore because this isn't a paid journal, but neery2 at gmail ought to work. Thank you!
