Damn, those are some sweet digs that Jason has. For mini laptops, the Asus EEE PC is the gold standard right now. I highly recommend the 900 model with the bigger screen and much larger hard drive.

Also, I'm looking into instant gratification, something that I can pick up at Best Buy or Microcenter in the next few days.

i believe you can buy the EEE at big box stores. otherwise, hit tiger or newegg, both are a good option if they're in stock, and usually arrive in about 3 days

MicroCentre to the rescue. Yeah Microsoft leaned hard enough on ASUS that they had to start offering XP, thank god they didn't throw vista on there or you'd have a 2lb paperweight.
