If Clinton had a different last name, you'd never have heard of her.

I have no idea who's going to get the Republican nomination, but I'm thinking Edwards is going to be the Democrats' next McGovern candidate.

If Clinton had a different last name, you'd never have heard of her.

Fair point, but I'm just saying that all people seem to have against her is that she was married to Bill Clinton...and maybe that she seems frigid.

Edwards apparently has a great shot at Iowa and New Hampshire, and is pretty much the most liberal on the war (you know, since he wasn't voting) so it's possible.

It makes me like her more. It makes her more resistant to scandals, too.

Like economist said, nobody is going to "swiftboat" her in an election.

Though I tend to see her experience as a bad thing sometimes, too. It means that her presidency might just be more of the same infighting that we're all used to, instead of real attempts at bipartisanship that someone who is less experienced and more idealistic, like Obama, might try to avoid.

As for the republicans, I don't know very much about them. I don't like Giuliani or McCain. Giuliani is just a one-hit wonder trying to capitalize on his management of NYC post-9/11 (was it even that great, objectively?) and McCain already won and lost to Bush, why would we want him now? That said, I like him more in some of his appearances, and he does seem like a reasonable guy. Like you said, though, maybe he is trying too hard in his appearances. The result is that he appears less presidential.

That experience thing is a good point. It's been pointed out that a Clinton win would mean at least 24 years with either a Bush or Clinton in the White House - add eight to that if you consider that the first Bush was vice president for Reagan.

Last week I wrote a huge entry about all the candidates. You're totally right about Ron Paul, but I've never heard anyone else ever refer to Giuliani as "nice"! Other than being mayor on 9/11, his big thing in NYC was a sort of neo-War on Poverty - i.e. war on the poor.

I guess I mean "charming" rather than nice. He's got that kind of friendly grandpa thing going on.

Giuliani's a warmonger, a megalomaniac, and a narcissist. He's like Bush, except with an IQ, which would be disastrous.
