It was our opinion that community moderators should not be forced to reveal their identities or be subjected to harassment for content posted by other members of that community.

But seriously, after the random privacy stuff going around recently on other networks, this is a good precedent for you guys to set. Thank you!

How not? I don't understand what you're asking. Facebook is going after accounts that don't use the user's real, legal name. Users shouldn't have to provide their legal names, especially if they're using aliases for reasons.

The fact that LiveJournal is looking after its users' privacy is a very good thing, in my opinion. It is good to know that privacy is still important to the staff here.

Why does it keep switching me back to my default icon on custom comment pages all the time? I can edit my comment and get the icon I wanted to use, but it's a little annoying to have to do that.

It's a bug with the quick reply form, and it's been reported.

The workaround I've found is that you can open the old individual reply page, and icon selection works there. Instead of just clicking on the reply link, try using control-click (Windows, maybe *nix? not sure), command-click (OS X), or right-click and 'open in new tab' for everybody. This works for the reply link on posts, and the reply links on individual comments.

Ahh, okay. That makes sense. I did notice that it was working some of the time, but I couldn't figure what I did or didn't do in the comments that it worked on. Thanks for the info and the workaround! :D
